A veritable smorgasbord of talent, Stockholm Fashion Week is one of our favourites at Shop Pyramid. With big Scandinavian names such as Carin Wester and House of Dagmar on the schedule, Stockholm never fails to disappoint with its intelligent and fashion forward collections that this season demonstrated that Swedish style isn’t all about minimalism and clean lines.
Carin Wester took inspiration from the seaside for her spring summer collection. A navy blue, beige and coral palette appeared with her signature oversized silhouettes and knitwear, all of which had you dreaming of an island vacation. Think cool breezes and long walks on the beach after sunset; layering pieces that take you all the way through day, evening and night time yet would all work equally as well in the city, such is the charm of Wester’s designs.
Some interesting fabric choices ran through the collection – satin, knitted, matt and shiny textures gave plenty of appealing contrasts. We at Shop Pyramid loved the details of the Carin Wester collection: the artfully frayed edges; the sailor ropes as belts. We also left the show dreaming of the coats – a usual must-have which you can find in our boutique from Autumn Winter.
House of Dagmar
Geometric playfulness, inspired by the Swedish painter Matthias van Arkel, summed up the collection from Dagmar this season. Van Arkel, known for his vibrant expressionistic approach with conceptual references to minimalism, translated onto Dagmar’s designs in experimental 3D effects and unique pleating and folding. A beautifully spring inspired palette of pastel blue, beige, white and hints of green – this collection from Dagmar was a very ladylike approach to summer dressing.
